Tractor – Its Uses and Benefits in Agriculture

What is a Tractor?

Tractor, an engineering vehicle, was specially designed to provide a high torque or tractive effort within the low speed, to haul machinery or trailer used in construction or agriculture.

Usually, the term tractor is used to define an agriculture or farm vehicle that gives the traction and power to use farm machinery in agricultural tasks, originally tillage and these days plenty of tasks also. Agriculture machinery may be mounted on or hauled behind a tractor, and the tractor may provide a source of power to the mechanised implement.

Who invented it?

The first tractor was invented by an American inventor, Benjamin Holt, born in 1849, who also manufactured the first-ever practical crawler-type tread tractor.

The invention brought a significant change in the life of the farmers. The tractor took the place of horses and mules that saved the farmers from going into the longer raise crops and to feed the animals which ultimately saved the time and other resources used by the farmers.

Key Benefits

In present time Tractor has become an essential part of a farmer’s life as it offers multiple benefits. Following are a few key benefits and uses of tractor nowadays:

Tractors in the USA and all over the world are traditionally used in farming and other agricultural activities. Tractors are best suitable to perform activities like spreading seeds, ploughing, moving fertilizers, landscape management and also in clearing bushes.

Tractors are also used in tiny as well as regular lawn and garden activities. There is a diverse range of tractors exist in the market with amazing built qualities and different specifications. Tractors are made to deliver resourcefulness while performing a different type of tasks in the fields.

Over the past few years, tractor’s engines have been evolved as quite powerful engines for carrying out difficult tasks under extreme conditions. All of these qualities prove tractors very effective in farming.

Tractor helps the farmers to cut down extra costs for resources, which is the main purpose to use tractors by farmers.

Why do tractors go so slow?

Tractors are made with heavy materials that are responsible for increases its weight. Tractors are certainly not made to go fast as the tractor is meant to perform activities such as towing and ploughing which requires the gentle movement of a vehicle. It is when you drive a tractor at high-speed, you may observe that the farming activity would not be as good as expected.

Tractors are meant to use in pulling heavy applications when working in the fields. Hence the tractor is supposed to be driven slow else things can go wrong.
